The SMART Teacher Content Challenge
The SMART Teacher Content Challenge is designed to encourage teachers to discover and use digital content, where it improves educational outcomes. The goal for teachers is to identify and share effective teaching practice enabled by the use of digital content.
What is the Smart Teacher Content Challenge?
Teachers can download 30 megabytes of any content from SMART Learning Marketplace for free, for use in their classes. Teachers then write a report with an overview of the content that they selected and why, how they used the content in the classroom and the student response.
Teachers submit their reports and are judged by a panel of independent academics and educators from all over the world.
Who can enter?
The 2008 challenge is open to any teacher in the US, Canada, the UK, and Ireland.
How does it work?
The Challenge works like this:
- Teachers enter the competition by emailing their full name and school to smartteacher@globalgridforlearning.com.
- Once their entry form has been verified they will be sent a promo code for a trial account with SMART Learning Marketplace within 24 hours.
- Teachers should go to https://learningmarketplace.smarttech.com/EnterCode.aspx and enter the promo code that they have been emailed and click on “SUBMIT”. Teachers should then complete the registration process.
- Once registration is completed, teachers will be allocated 30MBs to download any content from the SMART Learning Marketplace.
- Each teacher selects a class where they have identified that digital content may enhance the learning experience for their students.
- Teachers log in to SMART Learning Marketplace and download suitable content to use in their classroom for the purpose of 2 above.
- Teachers prepare and deliver their class using the digital content downloaded from SMART Learning Marketplace.
- From 1 April 2008 until 31 July 2008, teachers can submit their report by emailing smartteacher@globalgridforlearning.com. Reports should:
- identify the class topic and content chosen including the rationale for these choices
- provide an overview of the classroom context including age, audience, ICT used, knowledge of ICT, classroom practice etc.
- discuss the student response and impact
